Los Angeles based photographer Ken Locker has had a diverse career in photography, documentary films, television and digital media. After graduating from Johns Hopkins University he began his formal pursuit of photography as a student of Minor White at MIT’s Center for Advanced Visual Studies. He continued his fine  art work in New York and London, exhibiting in several group shows. Additionally,  he worked in fashion, editorial and portrait photography. His work, as an independent photographer, appeared in many publications.

He  then became a documentary director/cinematographer/producer winning a number of awards, including an Academy Award nomination for the feature length film “Backstage at the Kirov” (1982). He then moved into the mainstream of the television  industry as a producer and executive and was involved in varying capacities on  more than two dozen movies and mini series including “Lonesome Dove” and “The Josephine Baker Story”. The productions, on which he worked, earned 18 Emmy awards. In the late 90s he moved into the, then nascent, digital media industry where he held senior positions at MGM, Comedy Central and several start up ventures.

In 2010 he returned to photography full time. His recent  work has included author portraits for Simon & Shuster, The New York Times and a number of smaller publishers, as well as editorial assignments for various print and online publications. His photographs are in private collections in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Washington, D.C. and Toronto.
